This was the best image I took for this assignment because I feel like it captured the essence of Laura Letinksy's work. A lot of Laura Letinksy's work uses food leftovers and trash to create images from already used materials. She finds the beauty in everyday objects and captures it in her photography. When taking this photo, I used the set dinner table to inspire me to take imagery of something mundane and find the beauty in all of the colors. What was challenging about this assignment was that Laura Letinky's work uses specific lighting and plain white backgrounds. I found it difficult to try to recreate the white space in her work. In the future, I might experiment more with creating a set with a specific background and subject to better match Laura Letinsky's style.

My comment: I really enjoyed the use of color in this image and how it is very monochromatic. This allows better focus on the ways shadow and light are used to capture the depth of the plants. Additionally, having the up-close shot of the plants gives the viewer a good look into the small details of the plant. Overall, I find this image to be pleasant and very bright. I think you did a good job emulating James Welling's work.
Hi Caitlyn, I really love the image you’ve created! I think you did an excellent job capturing the essence of the photographer’s style and subject matter while still crafting something unique and distinctive. The variety of colors in your image is especially striking, guiding the viewer’s eyes to appreciate all the intricate details. Overall, I think you’ve done an amazing job with this photograph!
